The Dothan United Soccer Club secured a 2-0 victory over UMA FC in a friendly match held at Rip Hewes Stadium on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. While this match does not count towards the league standings, it highlights the team’s communication, efforts, and hard work put into every match this season.
Dothan United is stepping closer to the end of their first month of the season and are on a strong winning streak of 3 games, improving their overall season record to 3-1-0.
The Dragons triumphed against UMA FC, a team from LaGrange Georgia, with their offensive plays being the best of the season so far. The first goal was scored just over 10 minutes into the game by midfielder, Stefano Campisi. And following after that, in the second half Santiago Hoyos scored the Dragons second goal, setup by Devonte Richards.
After the goal scored by number 21, Campisi in the first half, Dothan was given many more opportunities to score against UMA FC. But the end result of the first half remained 1-0.
The second half was more calm than the first, however an astounding goal was scored by Hoyos, when Devante Richards, a recent Barbados National Team call-up, adverted the UMA FC goalie’s attention causing the goal to be left wide open for Hoyos to knock in a memorable goal. Devante and Hoyos both celebrated their teamwork afterwards with Hoyos pointing out Richard’s great assist. The Dothan United community cannot wait to see more of both Richards and Hoyos on the field this season while they make a great impact on the team’s offensive line.
Overall, Dothan United had numerous exceptional offensive plays this match, with a strong offensive and defensive line. The defense did not let any goals slide this match, and within the first 45 minutes, Jourdan Schumacher, had 3 solid saves holding off UMA FC’s offense the entire match.
Dothan United will be back at the Rip Hewes Stadium on May 31, for another home game against the Southern Soccer Academy Swarm (1-2-0). A special match benefitting Wiregrass Pets, Rescue & Adoption. Kick off for that home match is set at 7:30pm.
