Last Saturday, June 29th, Dothan United fans proved their unwavering dedication as they braved intense weather conditions to support their team in a thrilling game against rival Birmingham Legion FC. Despite the match ending in a 1-1 tie, the day was a testament to the bond between the team and its loyal supporters.
The day started with clouds and worsening weather conditions. Thunderstorms and lightning caused a two and a half hour delay to the game’s start time. Yet, the spirit of the fans was unshaken. Fans camped out under the stadium seating, waited in their cars, and made the most of the situation by enjoying concessions and adult beverages. Some even had the unique opportunity to hang out with players during the delay, creating a memorable experience.
As the game finally started, the rain continued to pour relentlessly. Hundreds of fans, unfazed by the downpour, filled the stands chanting, singing, and cheering. The adverse weather turned the turf into a slick and unpredictable playing field, adding to the intensity and suspense of the game.
Right winger Joel Burgos scored a pivotal goal towards the end of the second half, ensuring Dothan United ended the match on an equal footing with Birmingham Legion FC.
